Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from Piastri by one point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, trailing 36 points Norris, ended up in P17 as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before rotating through the gravel trap, and was lucky to escape with just a light touch of the wall.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also spun, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho turn approaching the last turn on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion wrapped up in P19, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's Sauber P3, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
